Corporate Profile
Founded 1998
Overview: --By offering risk money to entrepreneurs who lack a track record with which to raise capital, I want to support them in realizing their dreams and leading their enterprises to achieve significant growth.-- Initially, we faced great difficulty, as venture capital lacked both infrastructure and understanding in Japan, and the national economy was mired in recession. However, along with the gradual recovery of the economy, the environment for both venture enterprises and venture capital has made great progress. With sincere thanks to our many supporters during the lean early days, we feel confident that our company now possesses a strong and stable base on which to build. To this point, we have expanded our activities positively through the establishment of regional hubs across Japan. Though the numbers in each region may be small in comparison to Tokyo, there are still numerous enterprises to be found possessing great potential for growth and eventual listing. And, with the future likely to bring greater local power through decentralization, our regional focus can only go from strength to strength. This belief of ours has met with great understanding, and requests for assistance, from those involved in local government and regional economic activity, with a prime example being the continuance of the first fund, and establishment of a second, in Iwate Prefecture. Furthermore, there is a slow but steady rise in the number of collaborative ventures between industry and academia. There are many leading academic institutions close to our base here in Kyoto, while the city’s culture of promoting ventures has produced many successful global enterprises. Thus, we firmly believe our company is ideally placed to benefit from the increasing tendency toward high potential collaboration.
